What if space could reveal what some vessels are trying to hide at sea?

Clément Galic, CEO and co-founder of Unseenlabs, was invited to Underscore, the Twitch show hosted by Micode, alongside Matthieu Lambda.
During the interview, he discussed Unseenlabs’ origins, our exclusive space-based radio frequency detection technology, concrete maritime use cases, and the company’s upcoming Gen 2 satellites.
The ocean remains one of the hardest environments to monitor. Once a vessel moves away from the coast, it can switch off its AIS transponder, the system that normally broadcasts its position and identity. When that happens, the vessel can become a dark ship, invisible to many traditional monitoring systems.
This is exactly the blind spot Unseenlabs was created to address!
As Clément explained: “Our satellites are basically antennas deployed in space.”
Our satellites detect radio frequency emissions produced by ships, locate the source of those emissions, and analyze several technical parameters of the signal. This allows us to detect and track vessels even when their AIS signal is turned off.
Clément also presented concrete maritime use cases, from illegal fishing detection to the monitoring of suspicious activities at sea, and introduced Unseenlabs’ upcoming Gen 2 satellites, designed to support new multi-domain surveillance capabilities.
A clear and engaging interview to better understand our mission: making invisible activities at sea visible from space, and soon land and space activities!
