Unseenlabs is a pioneer and global leader in space-based RF detection. Since the launch of BRO-1 in 2019, our mission has been to detect, identify, geolocate, and characterize radio frequency (RF) emitters from space. We first applied this technology to Maritime Domain Awareness, detecting ships at sea through their RF emissions, including vessels that may not appear in cooperative tracking systems.
In 2026, the launch of BRO-31, our first second-generation satellite, marked a new step in this evolution. Building on our maritime expertise, Gen 2 expands our capabilities to a broader range of RF signals and environments worldwide, extending our services beyond maritime domain awareness to multi-domain awareness across sea, land, and space.

The Unseen Story: A Passion-Fueled Family Venture
Founded in 2015 by the Galic brothers, Unseenlabs has redefined the space industry by combining their expertise to tackle the evolving challenges of Maritime Domain Awareness.
Jonathan Galic, an expert in Signals Intelligence (SIGINT), a field rarely covered in engineering schools, recognized a gap in the private sector for this technology, both in France and globally. Jonathan’s brother Benjamin, a business attorney, encouraged him to start a company. With their third brother, Clément, they launched Unseenlabs, united by a shared vision to apply SIGINT to maritime surveillance and advance space-based RF detection.

Following the principle “If a window of opportunity appears, don’t pull down the shade,” the Galic brothers embraced the moment to innovate, propelling Unseenlabs into the future of space-based RF detection.

Creation of Unseenlabs
From Maritime Domain Awareness to Multi-domain Awareness
In 2015, the Galic brothers identified a critical issue: maritime stakeholders lacked visibility over their own waters, including exclusive economic zones and territorial seas. Existing surveillance systems were outdated and inadequate, allowing illegal activities to persist undetected. Unseenlabs was founded to bridge this gap by delivering the most accurate and comprehensive maritime intelligence available.
In July 2026, the launch of our first Gen 2 satellite, BRO-31, marked a major milestone, expanding Unseenlabs' capabilities from Maritime Domain Awareness to Multi-Domain Awareness across sea, land, and space, and opening the door to new markets and applications.
Miniaturization on Space-Based Surveillance
Twenty years ago, private companies had little opportunity to engage in space-based maritime surveillance due to the prohibitive costs of satellite launches. This field was dominated by governments and major aerospace corporations. However, the rise of the New Space era in the mid-2000s transformed the industry. Advances in miniaturization significantly reduced manufacturing expenses, making space technology more accessible to private companies.
