Unseenlabs to Launch BRO-23 and BRO-32, Bringing Two Satellite Generations Together

Unseenlabs is preparing to launch BRO-23 and BRO-32 together in October 2026 aboard SpaceX's Falcon 9 as part of the Transporter-18 rideshare mission from the Vandenberg Space Force Base, CA. The two satellites were integrated by Exolaunch.
This mission will bring together a Gen 1 nanosatellite and a Gen 2 microsatellite within the same launch. Once deployed, both satellites will join the Unseenlabs space-based radio frequency detection constellation, contributing complementary capabilities.

Two generations contributing to one constellation

Since the launch of BRO-1 in 2019, Unseenlabs has developed a satellite constellation dedicated to detecting, geolocating, and characterizing RF emitters from space.

The Gen 1 satellites have established Unseenlabs’ capabilities in maritime surveillance, providing an additional source of information on vessels at sea, including those operating without AIS correlation.

Gen 2 expands this foundation by covering a broader range of frequencies and RF emitters across maritime, land, and space environments. It is designed to complement the capabilities already provided by Gen 1 and support a wider range of operational needs.

Launching BRO-23 and BRO-32 together illustrates how both generations contribute to the continued development of the same constellation.

BRO-23 will reinforce proven maritime capabilities

BRO-23 is a Gen 1 nanosatellite designed to strengthen Unseenlabs’ space-based RF detection capabilities for maritime surveillance.

By joining the existing constellation, BRO-23 will contribute to the continued monitoring of RF activity across the world’s oceans. The data collected by Gen 1 satellites helps users detect and analyze maritime activity that may not appear through cooperative tracking systems such as AIS.

These capabilities support long-standing maritime applications, including the monitoring of illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing, suspicious vessel behavior, maritime security risks, and activity near critical offshore infrastructure.

Maritime surveillance remains at the heart of Unseenlabs’ mission, and Gen 1 satellites will continue to reinforce these capabilities.

BRO-32 will expand the range of RF emitters detected

BRO-32 is a Gen 2 microsatellite designed to broaden Unseenlabs’ frequency coverage across the L, S, C, and X bands.

This wider frequency coverage will expand the range of RF emitters that Unseenlabs can detect, geolocate, and characterize. Depending on the operational environment, these may include maritime navigation and surveillance radars, satellite communications equipment, GNSS interference sources, cellular infrastructure, and defense-related systems.

For customers, this means access to a broader range of RF data and insights to better understand increasingly complex operational environments.

Gen 2 will also strengthen Unseenlabs’ maritime capabilities while opening new applications across land and space. This expansion allows the company to address new missions and markets without moving away from the maritime users and applications at the core of its development since 2019.

A shared milestone for the Unseenlabs teams

“The launch of BRO-23 and BRO-32 shows how our two generations complement each other. Thanks to the work of our teams, we continue to strengthen our maritime capabilities with Gen 1, while Gen 2 expands the types of emitters we can detect at sea, on land, and in space,” said Clément Galic, co-founder and CEO of Unseenlabs.

The joint launch of BRO-23 and BRO-32 reflects the collective work of teams across Unseenlabs. It brings together the maritime expertise developed through Gen 1 and the new technical capabilities introduced with Gen 2.

Following their deployment, both satellites will enter their commissioning phase before beginning operational missions within the Unseenlabs constellation.
