With Gen 2, we’re scaling our capabilities beyond focused maritime domain awareness to support broader multi-domain awareness across maritime, land, and space. The first satellite of this second generation, BRO-31, was launched on July 7 aboard SpaceX’s Falcon 9 as part of the Transporter-17 rideshare mission from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California, U.S. Payload integration is managed by Exolaunch, the German launch integration provider.
From maritime awareness to multi-domain awareness
Since our first satellite launch in 2019, we have developed an exclusive space-based RF detection constellation dedicated to making invisible maritime activity visible, including vessels operating without AIS.
Gen 2 marks the next step in that journey.
While Unseenlabs’ first-generation satellites remain focused on maritime domain awareness, Gen 2 is designed to extend the company’s RF detection capabilities across maritime, land, and space domains. This evolution will support a broader range of use cases, including enhanced maritime surveillance, spectrum and interference monitoring, and defense systems monitoring.
Broader frequency coverage, broader applications
Gen 2 satellites are designed to detect a broader range of frequencies, including L, S, C, X, and Ku bands.
These expanded capabilities strengthen Unseenlabs’ ability to detect, geolocate, characterize, and identify RF activities across multiple environments. For customers, this means access to more actionable RF data and insights to better understand increasingly complex operational and geopolitical situations.
As Clément Galic, CEO and Co-Founder of Unseenlabs, explains:
“Our second-generation satellites significantly expand both the breadth and depth of our RF detection capabilities. This unlocks detection, geolocation and characterization of a broader range of activities across maritime, land and space domains. This opens new strategic use cases while reinforcing our ability to support our customers across commercial, security and defense markets.”
