Paris, France – June, 25 2025 – Unseenlabs has been selected by the European Space Agency - ESA as part of the Copernicus Contributing Missions – Category 1
For the first time, radio frequency (RF) data will officially contribute to Copernicus, the EU’s flagship Earth observation program.
With our unique monosatellite technology, we provide unmatched detection of RF-emitting objects, including vessels that deliberately turn off their AIS to operate invisibly. Today, Unseenlabs operates the only RF detection constellation of its kind in Europe, fully operational, sovereign, and built for action.
In a world facing rising maritime challenges, from illegal fishing to smuggling and sanction evasion, this is a game-changer for European situational awareness.
Our RF data will complement optical and radar sensors, bringing a new layer of intelligence to support:
- Maritime domain awareness
- Environmental protection
- Crisis response
This selection strengthens Europe’s technological sovereignty by integrating a new type of signal intelligence into its official data sources and sets the stage for our NextGen constellation to further expand this capacity in the years ahead.
The selection was officially announced during a certificate ceremony at the Living Planet Symposium 2025 in Vienna this morning, in the presence of ESA and DG DEFIS leadership.
Proud to support a stronger, more autonomous Europe!
